Epsilon™ is an epoxy coating that self thickens for brushing onto a variety of surfaces without sagging. It was developed for large-scale theming companies and fabricators that regularly coat EPS foam for making themed environment display pieces (some as big as 3 story buildings for Las Vegas casinos), parade floats, Broadway stage sets, movie sets and more. After applying, Epsilon™ cures to a hard coating that is easily sanded, primed and painted.
How Does It Work? Packaged as Part A Epsilon™ base and our 101 Hardener, mix ratio is 100A:20B by weight. Pot life is 15 minutes and re-coat time is 60 minutes (at room temperature). You can also mix Part A base with 102 Hardener (sold separately) to get a 30 minute pot life.
Epsilon™ is a neutral beige color so that you can see where you are going when applying over white EPS foam. You can color pigment Epsilon™ with SO-Strong™ color tints if needed. Some users add color to every other layer to ensure thorough coverage.
When applying to vertical surfaces, Epsilon™ wets out evenly. A minimum of 2 thin layers is required to build an adequate thickness and provide lightweight, impact resistant coating.
A big advantage that epoxy has over urethane for coating EPS foam is that Epsilon™ is not moisture sensitive.
