Grab your Master Sword and head into the world of Nintendo's Zelda! Calen Hoffman, a customer of Smooth-On used our materials to create the Hylian Shield from the Legend of Zelda series. The shield was first molded using our silicone rubbers: Rebound® 25 and Mold Star® 15. Since the mold required a support shell, Calen went with epoxy dough, Free Form® AIR.
Calen’s Hylian shield was cast by brushing aluminum metal powder into his silicone rubber mold and then was backed with a layer of Smooth-Cast® 300 urethane resin. Once the resin hardened, Foam-iT!® V, urethane foam, was then used to back the layer of Smooth-Cast® 300 to create a lightweight Con ready casting.
