Smooth-On Inc. is moving their spotlight to Canadian Artist Mike Patten. Mike has created many symbolic art installations. Some recent installations are entitled 'Smoke Signals', 'Trade', 'Stamps' and 'Lost and Found'.
One of his latest installations is currently on display at The McCord Museum in Montreal, Canada. The piece is called 'Wearing Identity'. The installation is a traditional headdress, blanketed in Vytaflex® 20 urethane rubber and tinted with UVO White colorants.
According to the artist, 'Wearing Identity' is a symbol for indigeneity, calling into question the ideas of essentialism and how Indigenous values and territories have been coopted into cultural and economic commodities.
