How To Make a Taxidermy Base Using Free Form™ Air Epoxy Putty

Overview

In this taxidermy tutorial, we demonstrate how to create a habitat base using Mold Star™ 16 silicone and Free Form™ Air epoxy putty.

A silicone rubber mold is made of an actual riverbed.  Epoxy putty is pressed into the cured mold once the mold has been cleaned.  The epoxy putty cures, and then is removed from the silicone mold.

The cured epoxy putty casting is painted with acrylic paint, and given a gloss coating with Tarbender™ epoxy.  An acrylic dowel is used to mount a casting of a trout on the display.
